DSM Taiwan Invests in Polyamide Production Line

DSM will expand the capacity of the company's polyamide plant in Kaohsiung,Taiwan,to further develop the Novamid®and Akulon®brand polyamide engineering plastics business.The project is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2012.This investment is in line with DSM's growth strategy and continues to expand the capacity of two polyamide production lines,Akulon®and Novamid®.
In May 2010,DSM added Novamid®to its product portfolio through a partnership with Mitsubishi Chemical.The Novamid®product line not only gives DSM a foothold in the Japanese market,but also adds polyamide copolymers and other specialties to DSM's polyamide product line.
Richard Pieters,DSM Polyamide Global Business Unit Director,said that the new product line in Kaohsiung will ensure the sustainability of the company's polyamide product supply.
Jayant Dhobley,president of DSM Asia Pacific Engineering Plastics,said the investment was in line with the company's strategic goal of becoming a leading supplier in Asia.
