Kaneka Co.,Ltd.of Japan has recently developed an epoxy resin modifier with uniformly dispersed core-shell rubber. This modifier is called"KanesMX",which can uniformly disperse the capsule-like functional resin called core-shell rubber into thermosetting resins such as epoxy resin with a size of 100 nm.It is planned to be officially sold in spring 2008.Ince that product is sold in a state in which the particle are dispersed in advance,it is possible for the us to dispense with the step of dispersing the core-shell rubber under high temperature and high pressure.
It is reported that epoxy resin has good adhesion, toughness, heat resistance and electrical insulation,so it has been widely used in automotive and electrical products coatings,as well as electronic components.Composites reinforced with carbon fibers and aramid fibers have been increasingly used as parts materials for aircraft and railway locomotives, and the demand is expected to further expand.Especially in the fields of electronic materials with high requirements for durability and heat resistance, such as automobiles, airplanes and ships, which require improving collision safety while reducing weight, the quality requirements for toughness and durability are getting higher and higher. For this reason, the company believes that KanekaMX is in great demand.
